Kidapawan City – July 18, 2025 — The city government of Kidapawan has issued a stern warning to individuals engaging in illegal street racing and reckless driving, particularly along the National Highway, following reports and CCTV footage showing young riders treating public roads as race tracks.

Mayor Atty. Jose Paolo Evangelista emphasized that there is zero tolerance for so-called “drag racers” and “supermen on the road” who put lives at risk with their dangerous antics. He reminded the public that traffic lights are meant to ensure the safety of all motorists—not to serve as starting signals for unauthorized races.

The mayor has already summoned several individuals involved in these reckless activities to his office to explain their behavior. This move, he said, is part of the city’s broader effort to enforce discipline among road users and prevent accidents that could harm not only the offenders themselves but also innocent, law-abiding citizens.

“This is a warning. Those who continue to defy our traffic regulations will face consequences,” Mayor Evangelista declared.

The local government is urging residents, especially the youth, to strictly adhere to traffic rules, stressing that public safety is the utmost priority.

“Our laws are in place to protect the lives of Kidapaweños,” the LGU said in a public statement. “Let’s not wait for tragedy before we start taking them seriously.”
