CAMP ALAGAR, Cagayan de Oro City (July 16, 2025) — Authorities arrested a high-value individual (HVI) and seized suspected shabu worth an estimated ₱680,000 in a successful buy-bust operation conducted late Tuesday evening, July 15, in Iligan City.

The suspect, identified only as alias “RJ,” a 29-year-old student and resident of El Salvador City, Misamis Oriental, was apprehended at approximately 11:45 PM along George Shekker Parade, Bro. Jeffrey Street, Barangay San Miguel.

The joint operation was carried out by elements of RPDEU Team 3 Iligan, CIU-ICPO, RIU-10, and Police Station 1 of ICPO.

Recovered from the suspect were:

  • Nine heat-sealed sachets containing suspected shabu (approx. 100 grams)
  • One red Hyundai Accent
  • Buy-bust money (two marked ₱500 bills)
  • Gray sling bag, brown wallet with two government-issued IDs
  • Rubber bands, large empty plastic pack, and a car key

According to authorities, the seized illegal drugs have an estimated Standard Drug Price of ₱680,000. The substances allegedly originated from Marawi City, and the suspect’s reported area of operation included Cagayan de Oro City, Misamis Oriental, and Iligan City.

Police said “RJ” previously faced a drug-related case that was eventually dismissed. He is now under the custody of Police Station 1, ICPO, while the confiscated drugs have been submitted to the Iligan City Forensic Unit (ICFU-10) for qualitative and quantitative analysis.

A case for violation of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, is being prepared against the suspect.
