INDANAN, Sulu — The 11th Infantry “Alakdan” Division of the Philippine Army formally inaugurated the Bud Tumantangis Communication Facility on June 28, 2025, marking a major step toward strengthening the military’s communication and operational capabilities in Sulu’s remote and mountainous terrain.

The milestone was celebrated through a Blessing and Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony led by Brigadier General Emmanuel L. Cabasan, Commander of the 1103rd Infantry “Kalis” Brigade, who represented Major General Leonardo I. Peña, Commander of the 11th Infantry Division and Joint Task Force Orion.

The inauguration also included the official opening of the Mt. Tumantangis Repeater Station, which aims to significantly enhance signal coverage, improve coordination among military units, and bolster communication support for peacekeeping, emergency response, and inter-agency operations across the province.

“This extension is not just for radio transmission—it enables internet connectivity as well, significantly enhancing our mission effectiveness,” said Brig. Gen. Cabasan, emphasizing the broader strategic impact of the new infrastructure.

The event was initiated by the 11th Signal Battalion and participated in by personnel from the 11th Infantry (Alakdan) Division, the 1103rd (Kalis) Brigade, and the 100th Infantry (Kalasag) Battalion. The collaboration highlights the collective effort to strengthen public safety and operational readiness, particularly in geographically isolated and conflict-prone areas.

The Bud Tumantangis Communication Facility and the newly established repeater station are expected to serve as vital communication hubs, directly supporting the Army’s mission to sustain peace, security, and development in the province of Sulu.
