GLAN, SARANGANI PROVINCE — Three suspects were arrested and half a million pesos worth of stolen property recovered following a rapid response by the Glan Municipal Police Station (MPS) to a theft incident early morning on June 14.
According to the Police Regional Office 12, the arrest was made possible through the prompt action of Glan MPS personnel, who responded to the crime scene just five minutes after receiving the report.
At around 3:19 AM, Security Response Unit Officer Edgar Dante reported a possible battery theft at the Globe Telecom Cell Site located in Purok Paglaum, Barangay Glan-Padidu. By 3:23 AM, a police team was already en route.
Upon arriving at the site, officers found that the facility’s perimeter lock had been forcibly cut. Missing were two 12-volt Motolite generator batteries and four 48-volt Wolong rectifier batteries, with an estimated combined value of ₱500,000.
Witnesses told police that three individuals were seen fleeing in a silver-gray Mitsubishi Strada pickup truck with plate number MOK 746. Glan police immediately issued flash alarms, coordinated with Community Police Assistance Centers (CPACs), and launched hot pursuit operations.
The breakthrough came shortly after when checkpoint personnel along the National Highway in Barangay Kapatan spotted and flagged down the vehicle matching the description. A search of the truck yielded the stolen batteries, along with cutting tools and other burglary equipment.
The arrested suspects, identified only by their aliases “Tanloy,” 45, “Tolits,” 52, and “Buknoy,” 37, are all residents of General Santos City. A representative from Globe Telecom confirmed the recovered items were indeed stolen from their Glan-Padidu facility.
The suspects are now in police custody and will be charged with robbery.
Police Regional Office 12 emphasized that the successful operation reflects their commitment to the directive of the Chief, Philippine National Police, to respond promptly and decisively to criminal incidents.
