LAGUINDINGAN, MISAMIS ORIENTAL (June 24, 2025) — The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency – Region 10 (PDEA-10) apprehended a priority drug personality during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Mauswagon, a community previously declared drug-cleared under the Barangay Drug Clearing Program.
The suspect, identified by PDEA-10 Regional Director Atty. Benjamin G. Gaspi as alias “Opaw,” 44 years old, was caught red-handed engaging in illegal drug activity. Confiscated from his possession were 5.2 grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated street value of ₱35,360.
The operation was carried out by the PDEA Misamis Oriental Provincial Office, in coordination with the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU), PCMS, and the Laguindingan Municipal Police Station (MPS).
PDEA strongly condemned the reemergence of illegal drug activities in areas previously declared drug-free. “We are committed to preserving the gains of the Barangay Drug Clearing Program and will continue to take decisive action against violators who threaten to reverse community progress,” Director Gaspi said.
Authorities emphasized that monitoring and operations will remain stringent even in cleared barangays to ensure sustained drug-free status.
