Ungkaya Pukan, Basilan — A long-standing armed conflict between two families in Barangay Bohe Lebbung, Ungkaya Pukan, was peacefully resolved on June 5, 2025, thanks to the successful intervention of the 45th Infantry (Gallant) Battalion and the barangay officials.

Personnel from the Bohe Lebbung Patrol Base, under Delta Company of the 45IB, facilitated the settlement between the families of Mr. Halim Albi and Mr. Jericho Antaas. The mediation was spearheaded by Cpl. Stephene B. Balmores (MS) PA, Patrol Base Commander, and was witnessed by members of the Barangay Local Government Unit, led by Barangay Chairperson Hon. Haider S. Hayad.

The peaceful resolution is seen as a significant step forward in the ongoing efforts of the military and local authorities to end violence and build unity within conflict-affected communities.

“This successful settlement underscores our commitment to peaceful conflict resolution and maintaining order in our communities,” said a representative of the 45IB. “Our collaboration with local leaders is vital in ensuring long-term peace and development.”

The resolution of the Albi-Antaas family feud is considered a milestone in the broader campaign to end local armed conflicts in the municipality of Tipo-Tipo. The 45IB continues to carry out sustained community engagements and dialogue-based interventions as part of its peace-building efforts across the region.

With initiatives like these, the Gallant Troopers reaffirm their role not just as defenders of the state, but as active partners in fostering reconciliation, unity, and development in UPTAL (Ungkaya Pukan, Tipo-Tipo, Al-Barka, and Lamitan).
