Cagayan de Oro City, June 6, 2025 — The Technical Working Group (TWG) of the Provincial Development and Physical Framework Plan (PDPFP) of Lanao del Sur recently held a four-day workshop aimed at updating and enhancing the province’s long-term development strategy. The workshop took place from June 2 to 5 at the New Dawn Hotel Plus in Cagayan de Oro City.
The activity marked a major step in refining the original 20-year development framework into a more responsive six-year strategy, aligning it with current priorities and governance cycles. The initiative follows a 2022 meeting in Cotabato City, where the TWG presented the PDPFP to the BARMM Regional Land Use Committee (RLUC) and received valuable feedback and recommendations for improvement.
Representatives from the RLUC were also present during the workshop, offering guidance and technical assistance to the Lanao del Sur TWG throughout the process.
The PDPFP is a critical planning document developed at the provincial level. It serves as a blueprint that integrates land use, infrastructure, economic development, environmental management, and social services into a coherent long-term vision. The plan also identifies specific goals, targets, strategies, and corresponding Programs, Projects, and Activities (PPAs) designed to address the province’s development needs.
Initial consultations for the PDPFP were held in 2018 and 2019 through a series of workshops involving Municipal Planning and Development Coordinators (MPDCs), Municipal Engineers, Line Agencies, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), and academic institutions. This inclusive approach ensured a comprehensive and multi-sectoral planning process.
Governor Mamintal Alonto Adiong, Jr. reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the plan, emphasizing that development efforts under the PDPFP aim to improve the quality of life for the people of Lanao del Sur.
“This renewed strategy reflects our vision for a more inclusive, resilient, and prosperous province. With the continued support of our partners and stakeholders, we are confident that we can bring about meaningful change,” Governor Adiong stated.
