Rajah Buayan, Maguindanao del Sur — June 10, 2025 — A supervisor from the Department of Education (DepEd) was seriously wounded in a broad daylight shooting, underscoring the continuing gun-related violence that plagues the provinces of Maguindanao del Norte and del Sur.

The victim was identified by local police as Alamanza Ambiton, a married DepEd supervisor assigned in the area. The incident occurred around 10:36 AM along the national highway in Barangay Zapakan, Rajah Buayan, Maguindanao del Sur.

Initial reports indicate that Ambiton was eating in front of a school when an unidentified gunman approached and fired multiple shots. Despite being wounded, the victim managed to flee and sought help from police officers manning a nearby checkpoint.

Authorities rushed Ambiton to the nearest hospital, where he is reportedly in critical condition. Meanwhile, law enforcement units have launched a hot pursuit operation to apprehend the assailants.

The incident adds to the alarming pattern of violence in the region, where educators, public servants, and civilians continue to be vulnerable to armed attacks. Calls are growing louder for stronger security measures and an end to the cycle of violence that threatens peace and development in the Bangsamoro region.
