Talusan, Zamboanga Sibugay — May 2, 2025 — A large-scale joint police operation led by the Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Police Office (ZSBPPO) under the leadership of Provincial Director PCOL Barnard Danie V. Dasugo was successfully carried out in the municipality of Talusan on Thursday, May 2.
The coordinated effort, which began at 2:00 AM and concluded at 4:00 PM, involved multiple units including the Talusan Municipal Police Station, ZSBPPO personnel, Zamboanga Sibugay Maritime Police Station (MARPSTA), the 1st and 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Companies (PMFCs), 903rd Mobile Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 9 (RMFB9), the ZSBPPO Medical and Dental Team, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit, Highway Patrol Group (HPG), and neighboring municipal police stations.
Among the key accomplishments of the operation were:
- The implementation of six search warrants for violations of Republic Acts 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) and 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act), with four yielding positive results;
- The seizure of 3.84 grams of illegal drugs;
- The confiscation of one firearm and seven rounds of ammunition;
- The recovery of two explosives;
- The impounding of three motorcycles, which were later released upon payment of municipal ordinance fees.
Although no suspects were immediately apprehended during the operation, the substantial law enforcement presence served as a powerful deterrent to criminal activity.
Police noted the operation also strengthened community relations. Several residents reportedly came forward to provide useful information regarding suspicious movements and unfamiliar individuals in their areas, a response hailed as a sign of growing trust between the police and the local populace.
Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to upholding peace and order in Zamboanga Sibugay and emphasized that similar operations will continue to ensure the safety of communities across the province.
