Maco, Davao de Oro – May 8, 2025 — Authorities arrested five men in a law enforcement operation conducted in Purok 2, Barangay Dumlan, Maco, Davao de Oro on Wednesday, following reports of armed intimidation.
According to a concerned citizen, several men aboard a pickup truck allegedly brandished firearms to threaten local residents. Responding swiftly, personnel from the Maco Municipal Police Station apprehended the suspects identified by their aliases: “Rico,” “Danilo,” “Reghner,” “Luisito,” and “Nove.”
Confiscated from the suspects were one Rock River Arms caliber 5.56mm rifle with three magazines, one Rock River caliber .45 pistol with four rounds of ammunition, a two-way radio, and a Mitsubishi Strada vehicle.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Jerry T. Cabag, Acting Chief of Police of Maco MPS, stated that the suspects will face charges for violating Republic Act 10591 or the “Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.” They will also be charged for breaching the COMELEC gun ban currently in effect for the election period.
The Police Regional Office 11 continues to heighten security measures to maintain peace and order across the region during the ongoing electoral season.
