TUKURAN, Zamboanga del Sur (May 7, 2025) — Anti-drug operatives confiscated approximately one kilogram of suspected shabu valued at ₱6.8 million and arrested a suspect during a buy-bust operation in Barangay San Carlos, Tukuran on Tuesday evening.
The joint operation, conducted at around 9:30 p.m. in Purok Santa Cruz, was led by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office IX – Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Office (PDEA RO-9 ZDSPO). It was carried out with the support of PDEA RO-9 Operations Division, the Regional Special Enforcement Team (RSET), Provincial Intelligence Unit of the Zamboanga del Sur Police Provincial Office, Regional Intelligence Unit 9, the 1st Cavalry Battalion of the Armor Division of the Philippine Army, Coast Guard Intelligence Group – Western Mindanao, and the Tukuran Municipal Police Station.
The suspect was identified as Nasrodin Macari Acmad, a 32-year-old tricycle driver and resident of Barangay Poblacion, Sultan Naga Dimaporo, Lanao del Norte. Authorities said Acmad was arrested after he sold a vacuum-sealed pack containing approximately 1,000 grams of suspected shabu to an undercover PDEA agent acting as a buyer.
The illegal drugs were reportedly concealed in a gold-colored tea pack labeled “GUANYINWANG” and “KK1916.” In addition to the suspected shabu, authorities also recovered a paper bag, plastic containers, an android phone, a Kawasaki motorcycle with sidecar, and boodle money topped with a genuine ₱1,000 bill used as marked money in the sting operation.
Acmad is now in custody and will face charges for violating Section 5, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
