CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — Police operatives in Northern Mindanao arrested three suspected drug personalities and confiscated over P564,000 worth of shabu in a series of buy-bust operations conducted on April 14 and 15 in Iligan City and Valencia City, Bukidnon.
In Iligan City, the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU) Team 3, in coordination with the Regional Intelligence Unit 10 (RIU-10) and Iligan City Police Station 3, apprehended a suspect identified as alias “Waway Disumimba” during an anti-drug operation in Purok Violeta, Barangay Acmac, on April 14.
Disumimba, 36, a resident of Barangay Kabacsanan, was listed as the top target on the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency’s (PDEA-10) City Level Target List as of March 2025. Authorities confiscated six sachets of suspected shabu weighing 30 grams with an estimated value of P204,000, along with a coin pouch and marked buy-bust money. Records show Disumimba was previously arrested in 2017 for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
On the same day, another buy-bust operation in Valencia City, Bukidnon, led to the arrest of a suspect identified as alias “Dandan,” 42, a known drug personality. Operatives seized three sachets of suspected shabu weighing 32.4 grams valued at P220,320, along with a mobile phone, a cigarette pack used to store the drugs, and marked money.
A follow-up operation on April 15, also in Valencia City, resulted in the arrest of a newly identified suspect known as alias “Reyna,” 26. Police also named another suspect, alias “Melchor,” who evaded arrest during the operation. Seized from Reyna were three sachets of suspected shabu weighing 20.6 grams, estimated at P140,080, as well as a red envelope, a mobile phone, and buy-bust money.
Brigadier General Jaysen C. De Guzman, Regional Director of PRO10, lauded the efforts of the operating units for their successful operations.
“I commend the operating units involved in the success of these operations. These are the result of our intensified and collaborative efforts to rid our communities of the drug menace. PRO10 remains steadfast in its mission to protect our communities and safeguard our future generations from the dangers of illegal drugs,” De Guzman said in a statement.
All arrested suspects are now under police custody, facing charges for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
