MAGALLANES, Agusan del Norte — Authorities seized suspected illegal drugs locally known as “shabu” in a buy-bust operation conducted by the Magallanes Municipal Police Station (MPS) on April 15, 2025, in Purok 6, Barangay Marcos.
Police Colonel April Mark C. Young, Provincial Director of the Agusan del Norte Police Provincial Office (ADNPPO), confirmed the arrest of a 56-year-old man identified only by his alias “Roquito,” a resident of Purok 2, Barangay Doongan, Butuan City. The suspect, reportedly jobless and categorized as a Street-Level Individual, was apprehended through the joint efforts of the Magallanes MPS Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Agusan del Norte.
Authorities informed the suspect of his constitutional rights in a language he understood. He is now under the custody of the Magallanes MPS and will face charges for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Representatives from the Department of Justice, local media, and barangay officials witnessed the operation to ensure transparency and proper documentation.
“This major accomplishment in addressing criminality and illegal drugs is part of Agusan del Norte’s commitment to remain relentless in the mandated task of cleansing the province from illegal drugs and crimes,” said PCOL Young. He also encouraged the public to continue supporting the campaign by reporting any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
“Your vigilance and cooperation are key to keeping Agusan del Norte safe,” he added.
