Camp Col. Rafael C. Rodriguez, Butuan City – In a proactive move to ensure a peaceful and orderly conduct of the 2025 National and Local Elections (NLE), the Police Regional Office (PRO) Caraga officially deployed 170 personnel from the Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB) 13 as Quick Reaction Force (QRF) teams during a send-off ceremony held today, April 26.
The ceremony was led by Police Brigadier General Christopher N. Abrahano, Regional Director of PNP Caraga, and Atty. Geraldine C. Samson, Assistant Regional Election Director of COMELEC Caraga. They were joined by members of the command group, regional staff, and Rev. Fr. JSupt Aldrin P. Alaan, Regional Chaplain of BJMP 13, who officiated the blessing and prayer for the troops.
As part of the deployment, 17 personnel were sent to Dinagat Islands, 68 to Surigao del Sur, and 85 to Surigao del Norte. The QRF teams are tasked with assisting local police units, ensuring the security of voters, safeguarding the transport of election equipment, and responding swiftly to any untoward incidents during the election period.
Brigadier General Abrahano reminded the personnel of the heavy responsibility they carry. “By wearing that uniform, you are no longer recognized by your name alone, but by the institution you represent. Your presence will deter those who may attempt to disrupt the elections and reassure the community that they can cast their votes without fear for their safety and security,” he said.
The deployment highlights the critical role of maintaining a ready reserve and additional forces during major democratic exercises like the elections. Having Quick Reaction Forces on standby strengthens the police’s capability to respond rapidly to emerging threats, support stretched local units, and uphold public order. It also sends a clear message that law enforcement is fully prepared to protect the sanctity of the vote and preserve democratic processes.
With an organized reserve force, PNP Caraga not only enhances its operational readiness but also builds public confidence in the electoral system, ensuring that every citizen can exercise their right to vote in a safe and secure environment.
