Tandag City, Surigao del Sur – A former member of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) voluntarily surrendered to authorities in Surigao del Sur, marking another step in the government’s campaign for peace and security in the region.
The Surigao del Sur Police Provincial Office (SDSPPO), led by Provincial Director PCOL Harry B. Domingo, confirmed that alias “Rebisco/Buhay,” a 52-year-old widower from Purok 7, Barangay Bolhoon, San Miguel, Surigao del Sur, turned himself in on March 30, 2025. He was previously listed under the Periodic Status Report (PSR) and was a member of Squad 2, Platoon 7, Guerilla Front 19, North Eastern Mindanao Regional Committee (NEMRC).
Alias “Rebisco/Buhay” surrendered to the Chief of the Provincial Special Operations Group (PSOG) at approximately 7:30 PM in Purok Santan, Barangay San Agustin Sur, Tandag City. According to his initial debriefing, he was an active member of the New People’s Army (NPA)/CTG in 2024, operating in the hinterlands of Lianga and San Miguel, Surigao del Sur, as well as Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur.
As part of his surrender, he handed over an AK-47 rifle with a defaced serial number, an AK-47 magazine, ten rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, and a rifle grenade. He is currently under the custody of the Surigao del Sur PSOG for further debriefing and processing.
PCOL Domingo emphasized the importance of such surrenders in the ongoing efforts to establish peace and security in the province. “This development highlights the effectiveness of our intensified law enforcement operations and community engagement initiatives. We encourage other members of the CTG to follow suit, abandon the path of violence, and reintegrate into society for a better future.”
The SDSPPO continues to urge remaining CTG members to surrender and embrace the path of peace. Authorities assure protection and support for those who choose to return to lawful society, reinforcing the government’s commitment to ending local insurgency and promoting lasting peace in the region.
