AMPATUAN, MAGUINDANAO DEL SUR – Authorities successfully arrested a suspect linked to the tragic SAF 44 case at around 6:50 PM on March 7, 2025, in Barangay Poblacion, Ampatuan, Maguindanao del Sur.
The suspect, identified as Aljun Baklayan, a resident of Barangay Tuka, Mamasapano, was apprehended through a joint operation conducted by multiple police units, including the Ampatuan Municipal Police Station, 44SAC-4SAB, RIU 15, RIAT/CTU-RID, Mamasapano MPS, PIU MDSPPO, and 2nd PMFC MDSPPO.
Baklayan was wanted for Direct Assault with Murder under Criminal Case Number SA-634, issued by Acting Presiding Judge Hon. Alandrex M. Betoya on January 24, 2017. During the arrest, authorities ensured that his constitutional rights were read, and an Alternative Recording Device was used to document the operation.
PCOL Ryan Bobby C. Paloma of the MDSPPO commended the operatives for their dedication and commitment to justice. The arrest marks another step in holding accountable those involved in the tragic Mamasapano clash, as authorities continue efforts to ensure justice for the fallen SAF 44.
