ZAMBOANGA CITY – The Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) has successfully apprehended the suspect involved in a fatal shooting incident that occurred in Barangay Cabaluay just past midnight on March 24, 2025.
The suspect, identified as 25-year-old Rodgin, was arrested in a follow-up operation conducted by ZCPO personnel. The incident took place around 12:50 AM during a drinking session at Purok 1, Barangay Cabaluay, where the suspect allegedly shot a 30-year-old male victim multiple times. The victim was immediately transported to the nearest hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.
The swift arrest of the suspect was made possible through a hot-pursuit operation launched after an eyewitness provided critical information. According to the witness, the suspect approached him and the victim before firing an unidentified firearm.
Rodgin is currently under the custody of Zamboanga City Police Station 3 (ZCPS3) and will undergo legal proceedings for the crime committed. Meanwhile, authorities are conducting further investigations to determine the motive behind the shooting.
The ZCPO reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring justice and maintaining peace and order in the community.
