Surigao del Norte – The Surigao del Norte Police Provincial Office (SDNPPO) reported notable successes in its law enforcement operations for February 2025, reflecting its unwavering commitment to public safety and crime prevention.
According to the monthly accomplishment report by the Provincial Operations Unit, SDNPPO intensified its efforts against illegal drugs, leading to thirty-four successful operations. These operations resulted in the arrest of thirty-seven individuals and the confiscation of 104.011 grams of illegal substances, with an estimated Standard Drug Price value of Php707,278.20.
In the fight against illegal gambling, police operatives conducted nine operations, which led to the arrest of twenty-five individuals and the confiscation of Php10,982.00 worth of illegal gambling paraphernalia.
Efforts to apprehend wanted persons yielded significant results, with seventy-six fugitives taken into custody. Among them were eight individuals classified as Most Wanted Persons, including two high-profile fugitives ranked as Top 3 and Top 4 at the provincial level. At the municipal level, those ranked as Top 1, 7, 8, and 9 were also apprehended.
Under the Campaign Against Loose Firearms, SDNPPO conducted nineteen operations, leading to one arrest. Authorities also recovered sixteen small firearms through voluntary surrender, while one firearm was confiscated, one was deposited, and one explosive device was seized.
Additionally, law enforcers intensified their Anti-Illegal Fishing efforts, conducting sixty-seven operations that resulted in the arrest of 108 violators. Authorities confiscated 441 kilograms of assorted fish, valued at Php96,143.00.
The province’s campaign against illegal logging also saw significant achievements. Nine operations were carried out, leading to the arrest of eleven individuals and the seizure of 2,581 board feet of illegally sourced lumber worth Php53,800.00.
Furthermore, as part of the enforcement of special laws, one individual was arrested for violating Republic Act 10643, also known as the Graphic Health Warnings Law, leading to the confiscation of Php12,000.00 worth of prohibited items.
SDNPPO Provincial Director, PCOL Warren E. Dablo, commended the dedication and perseverance of the police personnel in achieving these results.
“The success of this month’s operations highlights the unwavering commitment of the Surigao del Norte Police Force in combating criminality. Hopefully, we can sustain this momentum in the coming months,” PD Dablo said.
