On March 26, 2025, a significant step towards unity and reconciliation took place in Barangay Banga, Pantar, Marantao, Lanao del Sur, as key officials and stakeholders gathered for the Solidarity and Iftar Activity. The event, spearheaded by the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity (OPAPRU) through the Moro National Liberation Front Peace Process Office (MNLF-PPO), sought to foster social healing and strengthen the peace process in the Bangsamoro region.

Among those present was PLTCOL Ansary R. Polog, DPDA of the Lanao del Sur Provincial Police Office (LDSPPO), who attended under the supervision of PCOL Robert S. Daculan, PD LDSPPO. Their presence underscored the commitment of law enforcement in supporting community-driven peace initiatives.

Other notable attendees included Ms. Paula V. Acuña-Lorico, Head of the Political Engagement Division of MNLF-PPO, OPAPRU; Mos’ab Hadji Nasser Jamal Malawi, a representative from the Ministry of the Interior and Local Government (MILG) of Marantao; and Hon. Diator B. Ampuan, Barangay Chairman of Barangay Pantar, Marantao. The military was also well-represented with LTC Jeremy D. Daminson, INF (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer of the 44th Infantry Battalion. Furthermore, PBGEN Agripino G. Javier (Ret.), a member of the GPH Management Committee and Head of the Confidence-Building Sub-Committee, joined the gathering to highlight the national government’s commitment to fostering lasting peace.

The Iftar activity, a communal breaking of the fast observed during Ramadan, served as more than just a religious observance; it symbolized mutual respect, collaboration, and shared aspirations for sustainable peace and development. The event provided an opportunity for dialogue, reinforcing the importance of cooperation between the government, security forces, and local communities in maintaining harmony in the region.

With initiatives like this, the Bangsamoro region continues to make strides toward reconciliation and unity. Through consistent efforts in peacebuilding and confidence-building measures, stakeholders hope to create a future marked by inclusivity and progress for all communities in the area.
