CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The Police Regional Office 10 (PRO10) is ramping up its security preparations for the Local Campaign Period beginning March 28, 2025, to ensure peace, order, and security across Northern Mindanao.
PBGEN Jaysen De Guzman, Regional Director of PRO10, has instructed all unit commanders to strengthen security operations, particularly in election areas of concern. This initiative is being carried out in close coordination with the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), other law enforcement agencies (OLEAs), local government units (LGUs), and various stakeholders.
“As the local campaign begins, we are ensuring full security coverage through the deployment of police personnel, augmentation forces, and mobilization of force multipliers such as barangay tanods, peacekeeping volunteers, and advocacy support groups. Our civil society partners, religious groups, and other stakeholders will also play a vital role in promoting peaceful and orderly elections,” PBGEN De Guzman stated.
To reinforce security, PRO10 will deploy additional personnel in critical areas and set up fixed and mobile checkpoints along major thoroughfares and places of convergence. The police will also collaborate with civil society organizations, religious, and sectoral groups to promote voter education, peace advocacy, and election monitoring.
Furthermore, PRO10 will strictly enforce the gun ban, conduct intelligence-driven operations against threat groups and election offenders, and implement crowd control measures during campaign activities.
PBGEN De Guzman also called on the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to election violence, vote-buying, and other unlawful acts. Citizens are encouraged to actively participate in maintaining peace and order by reporting incidents through official hotlines and social media channels.
“With the unified efforts of law enforcement agencies, LGUs, and civil society, we are confident that the 2025 local elections in Northern Mindanao will be conducted in a safe, orderly, and credible manner,” PBGEN De Guzman assured.
