TUKURAN, Zamboanga del Sur – Authorities seized approximately 50 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated market value of P340,000 during a successful buy-bust operation conducted in Barangay Militar, Tukuran, on March 19, 2025, at around 3:30 PM.
The operation was led by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office 9 – Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Office (PDEA RO-9 ZDSPO) in coordination with multiple law enforcement units, including the PDEA RO-9 Regional Special Enforcement Team (RSET), Tukuran Municipal Police Station, Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, Provincial Intelligence Unit – ZDSPPO, PNP Drug Enforcement Group 9, and PNP 902nd MC, RMFB9.
Authorities identified the arrested suspect as Ronel Fernandez Dejeto, also known as “Utoh,” a 42-year-old jobless male from Purok 3, Barangay Pikalawag, Sultan Naga Dimaporo, Lanao del Norte. Meanwhile, his alleged accomplice, known only as “Orak Maruhom,” managed to escape and is now the subject of a manhunt.
In addition to the illegal drugs, authorities also confiscated a blue Sniper motorcycle, a bundle of boodle money containing a genuine PHP 1,000 bill, a brown paper bag, and a white envelope.
The arrested suspect is set to face charges for violating Section 5, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, which penalizes the sale, trading, administration, delivery, distribution, and transportation of illegal drugs.
PDEA RO-9 and its partner agencies reaffirmed their commitment to combat illegal drug activities and ensure the safety of communities in the region. Authorities continue to urge the public to report any suspicious activities related to illegal drugs to help in their ongoing campaign against narcotics.
