Bagumbayan, Sultan Kudarat – The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Region XII (MGB XII) successfully conducted a Capacity Building and Safety and Health Training on February 11, 2025, in Bai Saripinang, Bagumbayan, Sultan Kudarat. The initiative was organized in response to a request from Small-Scale Mining Contract Holder Arnold B. Nor and Mineral Processing License Holder Venchito A. Julio.



A total of 147 small-scale miners and tunnel operators participated in the training, which aimed to enhance their knowledge of workplace safety and health standards. The event featured comprehensive discussions on crucial safety measures, risk mitigation strategies, and adherence to safety protocols to prevent accidents and workplace hazards.
Participants were also educated on the essential reportorial requirements that mining operators must submit to ensure regulatory compliance and operational transparency. These requirements play a vital role in maintaining accountability within the small-scale mining sector.
The training also emphasized Gender and Development (GAD) principles, advocating for gender inclusivity in mining operations. Participants were introduced to the Magna Carta of Women, which highlights women’s rights and the importance of gender-responsive policies in the industry.
MGB XII remains committed to equipping miners and mineral processors with the necessary knowledge and skills to enhance their capabilities. By conducting this extensive training program, the agency continues to uphold responsible mining practices, safety standards, and gender equality, all while supporting the sustainability and growth of the small-scale mining sector in the region.
