Maitum, Sarangani Province – March 4, 2025 – Law enforcement authorities successfully implemented a search warrant at Purok Greenfield, Barangay Wali, Maitum, Sarangani Province, leading to the arrest of a suspect and the confiscation of multiple firearms and ammunition.
Joint elements of the Maitum Municipal Police Station (MPS), in coordination with the Sarangani Provincial Police Office-Provincial Intelligence Unit (SPPO-PIU), 2nd Sarangani Provincial Mobile Force Company (2nd SPMFC), and STTA RID 12, carried out the operation. The search was conducted under Search Warrant No. 05-2025 for Violation of Section 28, Article V of Republic Act 10591, also known as the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act. The warrant was issued by the Executive Judge of the 11th Judicial Region, Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 49 in Alabel, Sarangani Province.
The search was executed in the presence of the suspect, his immediate family, and an elected Barangay Kagawad, ensuring transparency in the operation. Authorities recovered the following items from the suspect’s possession:
- One (1) unit Brazo’s Custom Caliber .45 pistol (Serial No. 808016)
- One (1) unit homemade Caliber .22 firearm (with defaced serial number)
- Three (3) pieces of Caliber .45 magazine
- One (1) air gun
- One (1) homemade “Boga” (improvised firearm)
- Twenty-one (21) pieces of live Caliber .45 ammunition
The arrested suspect, identified as alias “Guiller,” was informed of his constitutional rights in a dialect he fully understood. All confiscated evidence was transported to the Maitum MPS for proper documentation and will undergo verification and ballistic examination.
A case for Violation of Section 28, Article V of RA 10591 is being prepared for inquest proceedings against the suspect. Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to enforcing firearms regulations and ensuring public safety in Sarangani Province.
The Sarangani Police Provincial Office urged the public to remain vigilant and report any illegal activities to local law enforcement agencies to help maintain peace and order in the community.
