Pikit, North Cotabato – A barangay official’s son was killed on the spot, while his nephew sustained injuries after being shot by unidentified assailants in Barangay Punol, Pikit, North Cotabato on February 7, 2025.
According to initial reports, the victims were identified as Bayan Pangulagoy and Mohaimen Sansawi Pangulagoy, both residents of Barangay Bualan, Tugunan, Special Geographic Area (SGA) of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
The incident occurred past 3:00 PM while the victims were riding a motorcycle to buy fish. Upon reaching the crime scene, they were suddenly attacked by gunfire. Bayan Pangulagoy sustained multiple gunshot wounds to different parts of his body, resulting in his immediate death, while his cousin, Mohaimen, was rushed to the nearest hospital for treatment.
Authorities recovered fourteen empty shells of an M-16 Armalite rifle at the crime scene.
As of now, police are conducting an ongoing investigation to determine the identities and motives of the perpetrators behind the attack.
