Tawi-Tawi, Philippines – A new era of tourism and economic growth dawns in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) as Sangay Siapuh officially reopens as the region’s first island beach resort. The momentous event, held on February 6, 2025, was led by Governor Yshmael “Mang” Sali, who presided over a traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the occasion.
The reopening was graced by an array of distinguished guests, including representatives from key national and international organizations such as the Philippine National Oil Company (PNOC), Pertamina Gas Negara, Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA), Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP), National Power Corporation (NPC), DMCI Holdings Inc., Black Gem Resources and Energy Inc., Big Blue Logistics Corporation, Optima Typographics, and the Department of Energy (DOE). Their presence underscored the significance of Sangay Siapuh as a beacon of economic promise and sustainable tourism.
Governor Sali emphasized that the reopening of Sangay Siapuh is not just about rejuvenating a premier tourist destination but also about reinforcing his administration’s commitment to sustainable development in Tawi-Tawi. “This is a milestone for our province and for BARMM. We envision Sangay Siapuh as a hub where tourism, environmental preservation, and cultural heritage coexist harmoniously,” he stated.
