Isabela City, Basilan – Lieutenant General Roy M. Galido, Commanding General of the Philippine Army (CGPA), visited the headquarters of the 101st Infantry “Three Red Arrows” Brigade at Camp Luis Biel II, Brgy. Tabiawan, Isabela City, Basilan. He was warmly welcomed by Brigadier General Alvin V. Luzon, the Brigade Commander, who provided an overview of the unit’s current operations, security landscape, and community engagements in the province.
During the visit, Brig. Gen. Luzon emphasized the brigade’s commitment to sustaining peace and development in Basilan, particularly in supporting the ongoing peace process, now in its normalization phase. He highlighted the unit’s dedication to security and community initiatives that foster stability in the region.
Lt. Gen. Galido took the opportunity to engage with the troops under the operational control of the brigade, commending their discipline, dedication, and sacrifices. He reinforced the Philippine Army’s focus on Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs) leadership and empowerment, along with enhancements in troop welfare, including the issuance of new uniforms and updates on additional subsistence allowances.
“Our work is extremely hazardous and high risk – that’s why our compensation is significant. But that should never lead to complacency. In this line of duty, a single mistake, one wrong assessment, could mean everything. The question is: is your family ready for that?” Lt. Gen. Galido remarked. “I always emphasize discipline because it is through this discipline that we can find direction. At the end of the day, what’s important is that we return home and see our families smile.”
The CGPA also congratulated the 101st Infantry Brigade for its significant achievements in maintaining peace, stability, and progress in Basilan. He acknowledged the leadership of Major General Leonardo I. Peña, Commander of Joint Task Force Orion and Division Commander of the 11th Infantry “Alakdan” Division, along with Brig. Gen. Luzon, for their unwavering commitment to the mission.
The Philippine Army leadership’s guidance and encouragement continue to serve as a driving force for the 101st Infantry Brigade as it strengthens its efforts toward achieving lasting peace and stability in Basilan.
