Brgy. Makainis, GSKP, Maguindanao del Sur – February 10, 2025
A routine COMELEC checkpoint operation in Brgy. Makainis, Gen. Salipada K. Pendatun (GSKP), Maguindanao del Sur led to the arrest of two individuals for alleged violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Authorities from the Gen. Salipada K. Pendatun Municipal Police Station (MPS) flagged down a white RUSI motorcycle without a plate number for inspection. Upon ordering the two male riders to remove their helmets, a sachet containing a white crystalline substance, suspected to be shabu, fell to the ground. This prompted the officers to conduct a more thorough search, leading to the discovery of another sachet of suspected shabu in the possession of the back rider.
The confiscated substances had a total estimated weight of 0.3 grams, with an estimated street value of PHP 2,000. The suspects, along with the seized evidence, were brought to the GSKP MPS for documentation. The items will be forwarded to the Regional Forensic Unit of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (RFU-BAR) for drug examination, while necessary documents are being prepared for the filing of appropriate charges against the suspects.
PCOL Ryan Bobby C. Paloma, Acting Provincial Director of the Maguindanao del Sur Police Provincial Office (MDSPPO), commended the operatives for their vigilance and commitment to upholding the law.
“We will continue our relentless efforts to combat illicit activities and ensure that those responsible are held accountable. I encourage the public to respect the rule of law and refrain from engaging in illegal activities, as MDSPPO personnel remain steadfast in hunting down criminals and eliminating threats to our community,” PCOL Paloma stated.
The MDSPPO reassures the public that checkpoint operations will persist as a critical measure to maintain security, particularly during the electoral period.
