Parang, Maguindanao del Norte – Authorities have arrested a former police officer implicated in the infamous Maguindanao Massacre. The operation, dubbed ‘COPLAN TADTAD,’ was carried out by the Regional Intelligence Division of the Police Regional Office Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PROBAR), in coordination with Parang Municipal Police Station, RIU15, and PIT Sultan Kudarat.

The suspect, identified as Datunot Mangelen Kadir, also known as PO1 Datu Nor Kadir, 48 years old, and a resident of Barangay Talisawa, Datu Abdullah Sangki, Maguindanao del Sur, was apprehended in Barangay Making, Parang, Maguindanao del Norte.

The arrest was executed based on a warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court, National Capital Judicial Region, Branch 221, Quezon City, signed by Presiding Judge Honorable Jocelyn Solis-Reyes on January 30, 2025.

Kadir is facing 56 counts of murder in connection with the 2009 Maguindanao Massacre, one of the deadliest attacks on journalists in history. The massacre, orchestrated by Datu Unsay Ampatuan Jr., resulted in the killing of 60 individuals, including 32 journalists.

The accused is set to face trial, with authorities confirming that no bail has been recommended for his case.
