Patin-ay, Prosperidad – January 30, 2025 – In a significant move to enhance land surveying accuracy in Caraga, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), the Provincial Government of Agusan del Sur (PGAS), the Geodetic Engineers of the Philippines, Inc. (GEP), and the Land Management Bureau (LMB) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the establishment of the Standard Regional Baseline for Testing and Registration of Surveying Instruments. The signing ceremony took place at the DOP Government Center in Patin-ay, Prosperidad.

Present at the signing were key officials, including DENR Caraga Executive Director Engr. Maritess Ocampo, PGAS Executive Assistant Atty. Lizette Kaye Estillore representing Governor Santiago Cane Jr., GEP National President Engr. Raymond Arnold Alberto, LMB Assistant Director Engr. Romeo Verzosa, and GEP Caraga President Engr. Arthur Amora. Also playing a vital role in organizing the event was Engr. Virgilio Soliman Jr., GEP Agusan del Sur Chapter President.

During the event, Engr. Edilyn Cañete, GEP Mindanao Vice President, emphasized the importance of the project in advancing geodetic engineering practices. The initiative is expected to improve the registration and calibration of surveying instruments, ensuring more accurate and efficient land surveys in the region.

This establishment will enhance the quality of land surveying and contribute significantly to the region’s infrastructure development by providing a more reliable and standardized system for testing and registering surveying instruments.

The collaboration between DENR, PGAS, GEP, and LMB represents a major step forward in promoting accuracy and professionalism in the field. With this groundbreaking project, Caraga is set to advance its geodetic capabilities, benefiting both public and private sectors engaged in land surveying and development.
