Davao City, Philippines – The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) has reaffirmed its dedication to ensuring the safety and security of the city with a series of significant accomplishments in January 2025. Under the leadership of Acting City Director PCOL Hansel M. Marantan, the DCPO successfully apprehended 445 individuals in its continuous efforts to curb criminal activities.
Intensified Anti-Drug Campaign
The DCPO conducted 135 anti-illegal drug operations throughout the month, resulting in the arrest of 178 drug personalities. Law enforcement officials seized a total of 782.8731 grams of shabu, valued at approximately Php 5,323,537.08, and 77.0785 grams of marijuana, worth Php 9,249.42. As a result, 179 drug-related cases were formally filed in court.
Crackdown on Illegal Gambling
Operations against illegal gambling also yielded significant results, with 58 successful interventions leading to the arrest of 62 individuals. Authorities confiscated Php 22,602.00 in bet money, and all cases have been filed accordingly in court.
Apprehending Wanted Persons
The DCPO continued its aggressive pursuit of wanted individuals, carrying out 187 operations that led to the arrest of 187 suspects. Among them were 48 individuals classified as most wanted, while 139 others were also brought to justice.
Campaign Against Loose Firearms
In its ongoing drive against loose firearms, the DCPO executed 60 operations, resulting in the confiscation of 26 firearms, the voluntary surrender of another 26, and the turn-in of 8 firearms for safekeeping under “Oplan Katok.” Additionally, 18 individuals were arrested, and 18 cases were filed in court.
Community Engagement and Public Cooperation
These accomplishments were made possible through the active support of the community, Barangay Officials, and the Local Government Unit. The DCPO emphasized that its success in crime prevention and law enforcement is a result of collaborative efforts between the police and the public.
