Authorities in Mindanao are investigating the discovery of multiple women’s bodies in different locations, sparking concerns about safety and violence against women in the region.

In Sitio Dawis, San Jose, Caraga, Davao Oriental, residents were shocked to find the body of an unidentified woman stuffed inside a sack along the riverside. Police are still working to determine her identity, and officials have urged anyone with missing family members to visit the San Jose Police Station for possible identification.
Meanwhile, in Brgy. Tugbok Proper, Tugbok District, Davao City, a woman’s body was found inside a garbage bag on the morning of February 1, 2025. The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) reported that a passerby noticed the bag and, upon checking, discovered the lifeless body inside. The victim was later identified as April Mae Onggo Vizconde, a 21-year-old single mother from Lanao del Sur, residing in Purok-7, Small Tacunan, Barangay Tacunan. Her mother, Sherly Vizconde Malto, confirmed her identity to authorities.
A third incident occurred in Purok Rosas, Barangay Tual, President Quirino, Sultan Kudarat, where another woman’s body was discovered last night. Witnesses reported seeing the victim arguing with someone while riding a motorcycle before hearing a gunshot. Authorities are still working to verify her identity.
Police are investigating these cases separately but are also considering the possibility of a connection between them. Officials urge the public to remain vigilant and report any relevant information that could assist in solving these crimes. Investigations are ongoing.
