Quezon, Bukidnon – Authorities apprehended a 44-year-old male for illegal possession of firearms during a joint COMELEC checkpoint operation conducted by the Bukidnon 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company and Quezon Municipal Police Station on January 19.

The operation, held at Purok 6, Palacapao, Quezon, Bukidnon, led to the discovery of a Glock 40 pistol with serial number ACPK195 inside a Ford Raptor driven by the suspect. Police officers observed the firearm in plain view during the routine checkpoint inspection.

Along with the firearm, authorities recovered 15 rounds of live ammunition, a magazine, and a holster. The suspect was immediately detained and the seized items were taken to the Quezon Municipal Police Station for proper documentation and disposition.

PCOL Culaway, a senior police official, commended the efforts of the personnel involved, stating:

“These accomplishments reflect the strong commitment and dedication of our PNP personnel in their tireless pursuit of ensuring safety during the electoral process.”

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has reiterated its call for firearm holders to strictly adhere to the COMELEC-imposed gun ban, which is part of the nationwide effort to ensure safe, honest, and peaceful elections.

The suspect will face charges for violating the gun ban, a measure implemented to prevent election-related violence and maintain public safety during the electoral period.
