General Santos City – The suspects involved in the fatal shooting at a salon on Daproza Avenue, General Santos City, at approximately 6:55 PM on January 15, 2025, have been identified, according to Pendatun Police Station Acting Commander, PCapt. Cyrus Vince Arro.
Authorities have prepared the necessary documents to file charges against two suspects: one who entered the Renatanara Salon and fired the fatal shots that killed Renante Tampus, 34, a resident of Uhaw, Barangay Fatima, and the salon owner; and another who acted as a lookout while waiting outside on a motorcycle.
Tampus sustained two gunshot wounds—one to the chest (fatal) and one to the leg. Investigators recovered 12 spent shells from the crime scene. Initial findings suggest that the motive may stem from a personal grudge related to a business dispute.
CCTV footage provided critical evidence of the incident. The video captured a suspect wearing a green jacket, blue jeans, and a mask that only exposed the eyes. The gunman quickly drew a firearm from a sling bag, causing panic among salon customers and staff, who scrambled to escape. The suspect discharged multiple shots inside the salon in a chaotic manner.
PCapt. Arro noted that the gunman appeared inexperienced, as seen in the CCTV footage, where he seemed nervous and unsteady while handling the weapon, firing indiscriminately before fleeing.
“We are closely investigating this case and are confident that the suspects will face justice. Their identities are now known, and we are moving swiftly to bring them to account,” PCapt. Arro stated.
Authorities urge anyone with additional information to come forward to assist in the case, emphasizing the importance of community cooperation in achieving justice for the victim.
