A buy-bust operation conducted by joint forces of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Regional Office XIII Surigao del Norte Provincial Office, the Surigao del Norte Provincial Intelligence, and the Placer and Tubod Municipal Police Stations led to the confiscation of illegal drugs and various non-drug items on January 25, 2025.
The operation, which took place at around 2:10 PM in Purok 3, Barangay Boyongan, Placer, resulted in the seizure of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of Php2,000. The illegal drugs were found in two heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets—one used in the transaction and the other recovered during the arrest.
Authorities also recovered several non-drug items, including buy-bust money, a Samsung keypad phone, a black coin purse, a pair of scissors, an improvised scoop, an improvised bamboo plastic sealer, and cash amounting to Php13,420 in various denominations.
The arrested suspect, a former member of the Philippine Army and a provincial priority drug personality, is now facing charges for violating Sections 5, 11, and 12, Article II of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
This successful operation highlights the continued efforts of law enforcement agencies in their fight against illegal drugs and the commitment to maintaining peace and order in the region.
