Lamitan City, Basilan – The Basilan Provincial Police Office, under the leadership of Provincial Director Col. Cerrazid Umabong, and the 101st Infantry Brigade, headed by BGen. Alvin Luzon, spearheaded the Provincial and City Multi-Sectoral Covenant Signing for Safe and Peaceful 2025 National and Local Elections and BARMM Parliamentary Elections today in Lamitan City.
Members of the Philippine National Police (PNP), Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Philippine Coast Guard, and other stakeholders participated in the event, which was preceded by a Unity Walk, symbolizing collective commitment to uphold peace and security during the electoral process.
In his message, BGen. Luzon assured the public that the security forces in Basilan are fully prepared with comprehensive security measures to ensure the orderly conduct of the upcoming elections. He emphasized that coordinated efforts between agencies are crucial in maintaining peace and preventing any form of electoral violence.
Col. Umabong, for his part, underscored the significance of the PNP’s involvement in the covenant signing and Unity Walk, reaffirming the organization’s commitment to a peaceful election. He assured that the PNP in Basilan will take all necessary measures to safeguard the integrity of the electoral process.
Under the covenant, all security units pledged to work diligently to maintain peace and order during the National and Local Elections (NLE) on May 12, 2025. This initiative reflects the dedication of law enforcement agencies and stakeholders in ensuring a fair and credible electoral exercise in Basilan.
