Parang, Maguindanao del Norte — A significant milestone for law enforcement in the Bangsamoro region took place on December 30, 2024, as 250 new police recruits officially joined the ranks of the Philippine National Police (PNP) during the Patrolman/Patrolwoman Attrition Recruitment Program oath-taking and turnover ceremony. The event, held at the PRO BAR Grandstand, Camp BGen Salipada K. Pendatun, was graced by PBGEN Romeo J. Macapaz, Regional Director of Police Regional Office BAR (PRO BAR).
The hiring of these recruits is part of the PNP’s Attrition Recruitment Program for the Calendar Year 2024. Out of 2,285 applicants, 1,857 passed the PNP Agility Test. Following a rigorous selection process that included neuro-psychiatric examinations, medical assessments, and proper ranking, only 250 recruits met the quota requirements. Among them, 215 are male and 35 are female.
A Rigorous Recruitment Process
The journey of the 250 new recruits exemplifies the stringent standards of the PNP recruitment program:
- Initial Applications: 2,285 applicants started the process.
- Physical Agility Test: 1,857 applicants cleared this stage.
- Advanced Evaluations: 500 proceeded to the next phase, with 381 passing the neuro-psychiatric test and 337 clearing medical assessments.
- Final Selection: 250 recruits were chosen based on quota requirements and rankings.
Following their oath-taking, the recruits will undergo intensive training at the BARMM Regional Training Center, also located at Camp BGen Salipada K. Pendatun. This training is designed to equip them with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
Upholding Values and Integrity
In his keynote address, PBGEN Macapaz emphasized the importance of discipline, integrity, and dedication to public service. “Always uphold public trust and good values through serving the Almighty GOD, selfless service to the people, respect and protect human dignity, and uphold the law for every Filipino,” he urged the new recruits.
The Regional Director also reminded the recruits of their responsibility to ensure peace and order in the Bangsamoro region. He highlighted the need for effective law enforcement, crime prevention, and internal security programs.
“Always fulfill your duty by serving the public and protecting them against all forms of illegal and criminal acts. These are our mandates that necessitate integrity, discipline, credibility, and competence,” PBGEN Macapaz added.
Strengthening Law Enforcement in BARMM
The addition of 250 new members to the Police Regional Office BAR marks a step forward in strengthening law enforcement capabilities in the Bangsamoro region. Their forthcoming training and deployment are expected to bolster peace and order initiatives, ensuring a safer and more secure environment for the region’s residents.
