Camp Sgt Quintin M Merecido, Buhangin, Davao City – On December 28, 2024, a meticulously executed anti-illegal drug operation at Purok 26, Riverside, Barangay Maa, Davao City, led to the arrest of a high-profile individual known as alias “Kokoy,” who ranks as the city’s Top 8 Drug Personality. The operation also resulted in the seizure of suspected shabu worth PhP 70,040.00 based on its Standard Drug Price (SDP).

Authorities confiscated multiple pieces of evidence during the operation, including several heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing white crystalline substances believed to be shabu. Additional items recovered include one genuine 1,000-peso bill, 13 machine-copied 1,000-peso bills, and an OPPO Android smartphone, which is believed to have been used in illegal drug transactions.

The successful operation was the result of a collaborative effort involving the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit XI (RPDEU XI), City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU), Maa Police Station (PS16) under the Davao City Police Office (DCPO), and the 2nd City Mobile Force Company (2nd CMFC), in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

PRO 11 Regional Director, Police Brigadier General Leon Victor Z. Rosete, commended the dedication and teamwork of all the personnel involved in the operation. He emphasized that this achievement underscores the commitment of PRO 11 to its relentless campaign against illegal drugs and the individuals perpetuating the drug menace in the region.

“This operation highlights the unwavering determination of our law enforcement units to combat illegal drugs and bring offenders to justice,” PBGEN Rosete stated. He also reiterated the importance of sustained efforts and inter-agency collaboration to ensure the safety and well-being of communities.

The apprehension of alias “Kokoy” is considered a significant step in the ongoing battle against illegal drugs in Davao City, reflecting the resolve of both police forces and community partners to create a drug-free society. Investigations and follow-up operations are ongoing to trace and dismantle the larger network linked to the suspect.
