Marawi City, Lanao del Sur – The Coalition of Lanao Media and Radio Frequencies (CLMRF), with support from the Provincial Information Office and the Provincial Gender and Development Office, celebrated its first founding anniversary with a grand event at the Capitol Gymnasium on Sunday. The event brought together over 1,500 participants from various two-way radio groups across Lanao del Sur, highlighting the coalition’s milestones and achievements over the past year.
Governor Mamintal “Bombit” Alonto Adiong Jr., who delivered the opening remarks, expressed his admiration for the coalition’s efforts in assisting the provincial government in disseminating accurate and timely information to the public. “The Coalition has shown great dedication in bridging the communication gap in our province. Their commitment is invaluable to our mission of fostering an informed and united Lanao del Sur,” Governor Adiong said.
Activities and Highlights
The anniversary celebration featured a variety of activities designed to engage and empower participants. A highlight of the day was a raffle draw, which brought excitement and camaraderie among the members. Additionally, attendees participated in a workshop focused on enhancing communication skills and expanding their impact within their communities.
The workshop was facilitated by Bai-a-Labi Sittie Aisha “Baicon” Cayongcat-Nuska, Executive Director of Raheema and Meranaw Academy. She emphasized the vital role of women in promoting gender-sensitive communication practices among radio operators. “Effective communication transcends barriers and unites communities. Women’s perspectives bring a unique and necessary dimension to this endeavor,” she noted.
A Legacy of Unity and Progress
CLMRF was established on December 9, 2023, through the initiative of the Provincial Information Office and members of two-way radio groups in Lanao del Sur. Its foundation followed their participation in the Bangsamoro Information and Media Summit in Davao City, conducted by the Bangsamoro Information Office. Over the past year, the coalition has played a pivotal role in strengthening information dissemination and fostering unity in the province.
The anniversary celebration concluded with a reaffirmation of commitment from all participants to continue collaborating for the betterment of Lanao del Sur. The event not only marked a milestone for the coalition but also underscored the power of media in driving social progress and cohesion.
