October 31, 2024 | Wao, Lanao del Sur — Authorities in Lanao del Sur conducted a major anti-drug operation on October 30, 2024, leading to the arrest of a drug suspect known as alyas “Noro.” The operation took place around 2:50 a.m. in Purok 6, Barangay East Kilikili, Wao, and resulted in the seizure of 50 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of Php340,000.
The operation, led by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PDEA BAR), was coordinated with Bravo Company, 55th Infantry Battalion Philippine Army, the 9th Scout Ranger Company, and the Wao Municipal Police Station. During the raid, operatives recovered a heat-sealed sachet containing a crystalline substance believed to be methamphetamine hydrochloride, commonly known as shabu.
In addition to the suspected illegal drugs, authorities seized 75 pieces of photocopied one-thousand-peso bills and a genuine one-thousand-peso bill with serial number F4068478, used as buy-bust money. The physical inventory of confiscated items was conducted on-site, witnessed by a media representative, a DOJ official, and a barangay officer. The suspect, a 55-year-old widow, was read her rights in a language she understood.
The suspect and the seized evidence were turned over to PDEA BAR for documentation as officials prepared to file charges under Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Regional Director PBGEN Romeo J. Macapaz praised the coordinated efforts of the operating units, highlighting PRO BAR’s commitment to curbing illegal drug activities in the Bangsamoro region. He assured the public that the agency would maintain its rigorous campaign against drug-related offenses, emphasizing that authorities remain steadfast in their mission to dismantle drug operations in the area.
