In a significant anti-drug operation led by the Sarangani Police Provincial Office (SPPO), law enforcement agents successfully arrested a street-level drug dealer and seized Php 54,400 worth of suspected shabu in Malapatan, Sarangani Province.
The operation, led by PCOL Deanry R. Francisco, Provincial Director of SPPO, involved a joint team from the Malapatan Municipal Police Station (MPS), SPPO’s Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU), and the Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU). The buy-bust took place in Purok 1-B, Brgy. Sapu Padidu, targeting a known suspect, alias “Ama,” a 39-year-old farmer and resident of the area.
During the sting, an undercover officer was able to purchase a small sachet of suspected shabu, weighing approximately 0.1 grams, from the suspect using a marked Php 500 bill. Additional evidence recovered from the suspect included more sachets with a total weight of approximately eight grams of shabu, valued at Php 54,400.
All confiscated substances have been submitted to the Regional Forensic Unit 12 at Camp Fermin G. Lira Jr., General Santos City, for laboratory examination. The suspect has been detained at the Malapatan MPS for documentation and will face charges under Sections 5 and 11 of Article II of Republic Act No. 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The SPPO reaffirmed its commitment to pursuing anti-drug operations across Sarangani Province, aiming to curb the distribution and use of illegal substances in the region.
