Police Arrest Armed Suspect Following Disturbance in Alabel, Sarangani

Alabel, Sarangani Province — Police from the Alabel Municipal Police Station (MPS) responded to a report of a disturbance on the evening of November 2, 2024, leading to the arrest of a man in possession of an unlicensed firearm. The incident took place at around 7:55 PM in Purok 2, Barangay Ladol, Alabel, Sarangani Province.

According to the police, they were alerted by a concerned citizen who reported seeing a male individual causing trouble and carrying a firearm in the area. Acting on the report, a team from the Alabel MPS was immediately dispatched to the scene to investigate.

Upon arrival, the responding officers encountered a man identified by the alias “Den,” a 24-year-old resident of Purok 8, Barangay Ladol. Police apprehended him for violating Republic Act 10591, which prohibits illegal possession of firearms.

The police investigation revealed that the suspect was allegedly provoking trouble in the area before officers arrived. During the arrest, police informed “Den” of his constitutional rights in a language familiar to him. He was then taken to Sarangani Provincial Hospital-Alabel for a medical examination before being placed under police custody at the Alabel MPS for further documentation and legal processing.

Officers recovered a .45 caliber Colt Officer’s ACP pistol from the suspect, which he was carrying without the necessary legal documentation. The firearm was taken into evidence, and authorities confirmed that a formal case for violation of R.A. 10591 is being prepared against the suspect for filing in court.

The Alabel MPS commended the swift response and assistance of the local community in reporting the incident, reiterating their commitment to maintaining peace and order in Sarangani Province.
