Military, Police, and Coast Guard Launch Unified Campaign for Peace and Security in Northern Mindanao and Caraga

Misamis Oriental, Philippines — In a landmark initiative to bolster peace and security across Northern Mindanao and Caraga, the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine National Police, and Philippine Coast Guard came together for the ceremonial signing of the Joint AFP-PNP-PCG Campaign Plan “Maluntarong Pakighiusa” on October 30, 2024. Held at the Misamis Oriental Police Provincial Office in San Martin, Villanueva, the event marked a strategic collaboration among the region’s primary security forces.

The signing was led by Major General Jose Maria R. Cuerpo II, Commander of the 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division, alongside Police Brigadier Generals Jaysen C. De Guzman and Alan M. Nazarro, Acting Regional Directors of PRO-10 and PRO-13, respectively. Commodores Christopher DP Auro and Vincent Bingbong D. Fiesta, representing the Coast Guard Districts of North Eastern and Northern Mindanao, also participated in the ceremony, along with other key officers from each organization.

The “Maluntarong Pakighiusa” campaign aims to unify and enhance joint efforts for public safety and security, leveraging a Whole-of-Government and Whole-of-Nation Approach. The plan focuses on dismantling elements of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG), reducing criminal activity, and ensuring maritime and public safety, contributing to the socio-cultural and economic development of Regions 10 and 13.

“This joint effort is a significant step towards our shared goal of ensuring the safety and well-being of communities, bringing lasting peace and development to these regions,” said Maj. Gen. Cuerpo. “This agreement is a testament to our commitment to improve coordination and cooperation—key factors in the fight against terrorism, criminal elements, and syndicates.”

With the joint campaign, authorities are set to undertake a series of coordinated security operations, prioritizing not only internal threats but also supporting other agencies in tackling criminal syndicates and ensuring regional stability. This partnership underscores a unified dedication to foster a safer environment for all communities across Northern Mindanao and Caraga, further supporting sustainable growth and peace for future generations.
