Maguindanao del Norte, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, Philippines — Governor Abdulraof A. Macacua has been officially nominated by the United Bangsamoro Justice Party (UBJP) as their candidate for a parliamentary seat in the 2025 national elections. Receiving the Certificate of Nomination and Acceptance (CONA), Macacua stands as a prominent figure set to bring his leadership and advocacy for the Bangsamoro people into the region’s parliamentary stage.
Macacua’s nomination is seen as a strategic step not only for UBJP but also for the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). Serving as the Governor of Maguindanao del Norte, Macacua has earned respect as a leader closely aligned with the Bangsamoro cause. Beyond his governorship, he also holds roles as the Secretary General of the UBJP and Chief of Staff for the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF)-Bangsamoro Islamic Armed Forces (BIAF).
Appointed to the governorship in May 2023 by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Romualdez Marcos Jr., Macacua has since championed initiatives centered on peacebuilding, development, and moral governance. His alignment with the principles of self-determination and sustainable development reflects the aspirations of the Bangsamoro people, who look to him as an emblem of progress in BARMM.
With the UBJP’s endorsement, Macacua has indicated his commitment to extending his legacy of public service in a parliamentary role. His background in governance and his role within the MILF-BIAF provide a unique perspective that could bring a robust advocacy for peace, progress, and the autonomy of the Bangsamoro people.
As the 2025 election approaches, Macacua’s supporters and constituents across Maguindanao del Norte and the broader Bangsamoro region watch with anticipation, hopeful that his leadership will continue to shape the future of BARMM.
