The Gagmayng Kristohanong Katilingban (GKK) in Kidapawan City continues to actively participate in the Canopy ’25 initiative, a tree-planting program spearheaded by the local government.
Church communities were among the first to respond to the city’s call to plant trees in their neighborhoods and remain steadfast in their commitment to environmental preservation.
On Monday, November 25, the Kidapawan City Government recognized three GKK groups for their outstanding contributions to the program. GKK-Sagrada Familia of Barangay Sikitan, GKK-San Roque of Barangay Amazion, and GKK-Inahan sa Kanunayng Panabang of Barangay New Bohol were honored for planting an estimated total of 900 trees.
City Mayor Atty. Jose Paolo M. Evangelista and Vice Mayor Melvin E. Lamata, Jr. personally presented the awards, which were received by Barangay Captains Ernie Bañados, Lito Acain, and Paul Macaso on behalf of their respective communities.
The recognition event was also attended by City Councilors Pipoy Dizon, Galen Ray Lonzaga, Judge Boboy Palmones, Jason Roy Sibug, and Ricardo Reforial, underscoring the city’s collective effort in promoting environmental sustainability.
