High-Value Individual Arrested with Php680,000 Worth of Shabu in Zamboanga City

Zamboanga City, Philippines – Authorities seized an estimated Php680,000 worth of shabu in a successful operation conducted on November 5, 2024, targeting a high-value individual (HVI) in BCC Baliwasan Grande, Barangay Baliwasan.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Joseph Ian S. Lofranco, Commander of the Special Operation Unit 9, identified the suspect as “Rod,” a 37-year-old male resident of Puok Marikit, Barangay Santa Clara, Lamitan, Basilan.

The buy-bust operation was carried out by SOU9 and PNP Drug Enforcement Group (PNP DEG), in collaboration with various security units, including the 1st ZCMFC, ZCPS11, 3012 AISS PAF ODI, 530 AIBDC PF, ZCPO CDEU, 904th MC RMFB9, RIU9, and the S2 Battalion Headquarters RMFB 9. The operation resulted in Rod’s arrest and the seizure of four heat-sealed transparent plastic packs suspected to contain around 100 grams of shabu. Additional items confiscated included a Php500 bill, a Samsung keypad cellphone, and other non-drug-related evidence.

The suspect faces charges for violating Republic Act 9165, also known as the “Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.”

Zamboanga PNP reaffirmed its commitment to intensify the campaign against illegal drugs, ensuring the safety and security of all citizens.
