MALAYBALAY CITY, Bukidnon — Police operatives from the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) arrested a former Philippine Army member who allegedly turned to supplying illegal drugs in parts of Bukidnon during a buy-bust operation on Saturday afternoon, December 28, 2025, in Purok 4, Barangay 3.
The suspect, identified only as alias Loem, 49, married, and a businessman residing in Zone 2, Patag, Cagayan de Oro City, was caught after selling a packet of suspected shabu to an undercover agent around 2:53 p.m.
During the body search, authorities seized from his sling bag a coin purse containing four additional sachets of suspected shabu weighing approximately 10 grams. The confiscated drugs have an estimated street value of ₱68,000.
Also recovered from the suspect were two knives, a digital weighing scale, a mobile phone, cash, and a motorcycle allegedly used in his illegal drug activities.
Police sources revealed that the former soldier had been a major supplier of illegal drugs to clients in Cabanglasan, Barangay Managok, and various parts of Malaybalay City.
The suspect is now detained as authorities prepare to file charges for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The arrest marks a strong close to the year for anti-drug operations in the city, as police vow stricter enforcement to keep communities safe heading into the new year.
