City Government Installs Free Outdoor Fitness Equipment for Public Use

In an effort to promote not only a healthy economy but also a healthier citizenry, the City Government has recently installed free outdoor fitness equipment at the city’s high walk area, making it accessible to the public. This initiative aims to encourage fitness and wellness among residents, providing an alternative to private gyms.

A total of thirty-three (33) pieces of outdoor fitness equipment have been set up, including a variety of machines and stations like push-and-pull trainers, swivel fitness units, treadmills, hand and foot exercisers, sliding machines, abdominal muscle boards, double supine boards, triple waist twisting equipment, double back massagers, fitness riding machines, elliptical machines, and even a chess and card table for a mix of physical and mental exercise.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony, held last Thursday, November 7, 2024, was led by City Mayor Atty. Jose Paolo M. Evangelista, joined by City Vice-Mayor Melvin E. Lamata, Jr., and City Councilors Jason Roy Sibug, Francis Palmones, Jr., Galen Ray Lonzaga, Aljo Cris Dizon, and Mike Ablang. Following the formal ribbon-cutting, Rev. Joseph Uy conducted a blessing for the new facilities.

The event was attended by the city’s Barangay leaders along with Barangay and Purok officials, as well as department managers from the City Government, who eagerly tested the new fitness equipment.

Residents have expressed their gratitude, noting that the City Government’s provision of these amenities addresses their request for free, accessible fitness resources, which were previously only available in private gyms. The atmosphere was lively as attendees and the public enjoyed trying out the equipment, celebrating the city’s first outdoor fitness zone.
