Cotabato City, Philippines – Following the successful observance of UNDAS 2024, the Police Regional Office of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO BAR) is gearing up for the filing of certificates of candidacy (COCs) for the first Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Parliamentary Election. Under the leadership of Regional Director PBGEN Romeo J. Macapaz, PRO BAR is set to implement comprehensive security measures as candidates file their COCs from November 4 to 9, 2024.
In support of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), PRO BAR will deploy a robust force to ensure the security of COMELEC offices and key locations throughout the region. This heightened alert status aims to safeguard personnel, manage crowd control, and maintain peace and order during the filing period for the May 2025 midterm polls.
Key aspects of PRO BAR’s security plan include the deployment of police personnel at COMELEC Provincial Offices, the Bangsamoro Government Center, and other designated areas. Officers will also be stationed at various checkpoints, conduct route security, and offer convoy protection to ensure safe transit for candidates and officials.
Additionally, crowd management, traffic control, and public assistance will be prioritized to ensure a smooth filing process. Help desks will be set up for both candidates and the public, providing assistance and information.
PBGEN Macapaz extended commendations to all security personnel and partner law enforcement agencies for their recent efforts in maintaining peace during the UNDAS season. He also praised the community’s cooperation with security protocols and called for continued support as PRO BAR intensifies security efforts for the COC filing period.
“PRO BAR is committed to ensuring a peaceful and orderly COC filing,” said PBGEN Macapaz. “We are dedicated to impartiality, non-partisanship, and the rule of law, serving everyone regardless of party affiliation.”
The Bangsamoro police reaffirmed its commitment to uphold public safety and security, vowing to remain vigilant and impartial throughout this crucial period for BARMM’s democratic process.
