Two Suspects Arrested in Sultan Kudarat for Violating RA 9165

Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao del Norte—October 22, 2024—Joint operatives from the Sultan Kudarat Municipal Police Station successfully apprehended two suspects during an anti-drug operation in Barangay Salimbao, Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao del Norte. The operation took place at around 12:50 PM and led to the arrest of two individuals for violating Article II, Section 11 of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The suspects were identified as a 40-year-old male, a resident of Sultan Kudarat who is listed as the province’s Top 10 Most Wanted Person, and his accomplice, also aged 40. The arrest followed a warrant issued on October 8, 2024, by the Acting Presiding Judge of RTC Branch 13, in connection with a criminal case involving the illegal possession of dangerous drugs.

According to police reports, the suspects attempted to escape upon noticing the presence of law enforcement officers, but were quickly apprehended. A search was conducted in the presence of barangay officials and media representatives, resulting in the confiscation of several items.

From the first suspect, authorities seized two heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing a total of 0.21 grams of suspected shabu, valued at Php 1,428.00, along with an improvised glass tooter. The second suspect was found in possession of four heat-sealed plastic sachets containing around 0.80 grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated street value of Php 5,440.00.

Other items confiscated during the operation included a 50-peso bill, unused transparent plastic cellophane, a tiny pair of scissors, an ID card, a black coin purse, a black belt bag, two improvised glass tooters, and a black-and-blue Skygo “payong-payong” motorcycle.

The suspects were informed of their constitutional rights in a language they understood and were subsequently brought to the Sultan Kudarat Municipal Police Station for proper documentation and further investigation.
