A man was arrested after members of the Barangay Peace Action Team (BPAT) seized suspected illegal drugs during a routine motorcycle patrol in Barangay Pantan, Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao del Norte, at around 6:40 p.m. on December 13, 2025, authorities reported.
According to police, the arrest followed a call from Barangay Captain Norman B. Kadir, who reported that BPAT personnel had apprehended a suspect after noticing two men riding separate motorcycles and allegedly engaging in a suspicious transaction. When approached, one of the men managed to flee, while the other was immediately intercepted and questioned by the patrol team.
During the inspection, BPAT members reportedly saw several heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing a white crystalline substance in the suspect’s hand, believed to be shabu. The suspect was immediately arrested and informed of his constitutional rights.
Confiscated from the suspect were five (5) sachets of suspected shabu with an estimated total weight of 15.70 grams and a street value of approximately ₱106,760, based on the National Average Price.
An on-site inventory and marking of the seized evidence were conducted at the place of arrest in the presence of the suspect, Barangay Captain Kadir, and media representatives, in compliance with standard operating procedures.
Authorities commended the swift and coordinated action of the BPAT and reiterated their commitment to sustaining intensified patrols and anti-illegal drug operations to maintain peace and order in the community.
